What is high potential and gifted education?

Inspire – High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration

tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire

access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW. Our dedicated teachers work together across schools, sharing effective HPGE strategies to personalise learning and nurture each student’s unique potential.

The OSSA School Spectacular is a vibrant biannual event at the Orange Civic Theatre, offering Cudal Public School students exciting HPGE opportunities. They can join a combined dance troupe, perform class items, and contribute to script writing and drama elements. This experience nurtures their creativity, teamwork, and confidence.

At Cudal Public School, Year 5 and 6 students lead peer support activities that build confidence and social skills. They also join with nearby schools for events like Social/Emotional Collaboration Days and NAIDOC celebrations, fostering teamwork and cultural understanding across our community.

Cudal Public School students have great opportunities in sport, representing “OSSA White”—a team made up of several small schools—in statewide knockout competitions throughout the year. They also take part in combined school carnivals, which offer a variety of competition levels to challenge and develop their skills in a supportive environment.

Students at Cudal Public School are encouraged to develop their public speaking skills through various opportunities, including the annual CWA Public Speaking Competition. This event is a key part of our HPGE program, giving students a chance to build confidence, express themselves, and engage with a wider community.
